Our ladies bible study took our annual trip to the Southern Oregon Coast in Gold Beach at Ireland's Rustic Lodge this weekend. Once again we stayed in the 120 yr. old two story home with history to match its age. Full kitchen, four bedrooms, living room with a great fireplace and insert, all situated on the Pacific Ocean.
We had an great adventure including 50-60 MPH winds that rocked the house and the entire South Coast all day Sunday. Walking down to the water with powerful winds blasting you and watching the disappearing beach line was exciting. The power of the water took your breath away. Took many pictures of "lot of waves"; each one different of course! The power went out on the whole South Coast of Oregon at 2PM on Sunday and didn't come back on until 10PM.
But we knitted, crocheted and embroidered until we couldn't see anymore. Had to watch out for those needles in the dark! Ouch!!!!
When true darkness closed in, we played games. The Memory game was fun...A to Z adding a new word using the next letter in the alphabet and having to repeat them all until the letter Z. Sunday evening was brought to you by the letters A thru Z! Our "Over 50s" ladies did great...our memories are still intact.
We sat in the dark sharing stories while the soft glow of three candles added ambiance to the living room and the fireplace kept us warm. We cooked soup from the previous night's dinner and lunch leftovers on the top of the wood stove. A bit pot held hot water for tea and cocoa.
With their candle light fading quickly, the power came back on! We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the darkness and the bonding time of our little group. It was a wonderful experience to spend time with good friends on such a unique trip.
